Born in 1970, Nicolas Becker is one of the most sought-after Foley artists, sound designers and composers in the world. He tries to find an original process for each film, putting forward a uniquely creative reasoning in order to obtain very special material. He has collaborated with filmmakers including Roman Polanski, David Cronenberg, Matthieu Kassovitz, Andrea Arnold and Dany Boyle. In 2013 he has received his second Golden Reel award for his work on Gravity by Alfonso Cuarón.
Becker is also a research and development consultant for many studios and firms who create audio software. He teaches regularly in film schools including La FEMIS in Paris and the NFTS in London. He is also member of the band Manasonics.
He has several projects lined up: sound artistic director for the DAU project (Russia), sound supervisor for Philippe Parreno’s next exhibition of at the Armory Park (New York), sound designer for the next album of electronic musician Agoria, sound artist for the Opera Garnier in Paris and for an operatic project with Philippe Parreno, Benjamin Millepieds and Nico Muhly and Foley artist for David Yates’ next film, Tarzan. His latest films as a sound designer Disorder and Mediterranea premiered at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival in the Un Certain Regard and the Semaine de la Critique respectively.

وُلد نيكولا بيكير عام ۱۹۷۰ وهو واحدٌ من أكثر فناني الفولي ومؤلّفي الموسيقى طلبًا في العالم. يحاول بيكير أن يعثر على طريقةٍ مبتكرةٍ خاصّةٍ لكلّ فيلمٍ وأن يضع خطّة تفكيرٍ فريدةً بإبداعها ليحصل على مادّةٍ مميّزة.
وقد تعامل مع مخرجين منهم رومان بولانسكي، وديفيد كروننبرغ، وماتيو كاسوفيتز، وأندريا أرنولد، وداني بويل. وفي عام ۲۰۱۳، حاز على ثاني جائزة Reel Golden له عن عمله في فيلم Gravity للمخرج ألفونسو كوارون.
بيكير مستشارٌ في مجال الأبحاث والتطوير للعديد من الستوديوهات والشركات التي تضع برامجًا للصوت. وهو يدرّس بانتظامٍ في كليّاتٍ للفنون السمعية والبصرية من بينها كليّة FEMIS في باريس وكليّة NFTS في لندن. كما وأنّ بيكير عضوٌ في فرقة Manasonics.
ويعمل بيكير حاليًّا على مشاريع مختلفةٍ إذ إنّه المدير الفنّي للصوت في مشروع DAU الروسي، ومستشار فيليب بارينو في معرضه التالي القائم في Armory Park في نيويورك. كما وأنّه سيتعاون مع عازف الموسيقى الإلكترونية أغوريا على ألبومه المقبل، وسوف يؤلّف موسيقى لأوبيرا غارنييه في باريس ولمشروعٍ أوبرالي مع فيليب بارينو، وبنجامين ميلبييه، ونيكو مولي، وسيعمل كفنان فولي على الفيلم القادم طرزان للمخرج ديفيد ييتس في الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية. قام بتصميم الصوت مؤخّراً لفيلم Disorder الذي شارك في فئة نظرة ما - مهرجان كان السينمائي الدولي 2015 وفيلم Mediterranea والذي نال جائزة خلال مشاركته في أسبوع النقاد - مهرجان كان السينمائي الدولي 2015.
